(for papers published in 2008)
In recognition of the outstanding quality of many of the papers published in Tourism Economics, the journal has established an annual Award for Journal Article Excellence. The Award is named in honour of Professor Thea Sinclair (1950–2006) and her work in the field of tourism economics.
The winner of the Award is determined on the basis of a short-list drawn up from nominations by members of the Editorial Board. From this list, a panel of Special Advisers makes the final selection. Among the criteria used in making the Award are: the value of the paper’s contribution to original research; the quality of its argument; the coherence and concision of its presentation; and its contribution to the academic reputation of the journal. Only those papers published in Tourism Economics during the volume year in question are considered.
We are very pleased to announce that the paper nominated for the Thea Sinclair Award for Journal Article Excellence for the volume year 2008 is:
‘The role of economic development in tourism demand’ by Juan L. Eugenio- Martin, Noelia Martín-Morales and M. Thea Sinclair (Volume 14, No 4, December 2008, pp 673–690).
